Over the course of three unforgettable days, we’ll journey along Iceland’s stunning South Coast, exploring a landscape that’s transformed by the winter months. From Reykjavík, we’ll head east towards the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon and the Vatnajökull National Park, where we’ll embark on a breathtaking glacier hike that will take us deep into the beautiful blue ice caves, allowing us to get up close and personal with the mighty glacier.


On our third day, we’ll venture into Thórsmörk, a rugged glacial valley known as the “Valley of the God of Thunder,” where we’ll trek through the snow-covered terrain, taking in the incredible scenery and feeling the rush of pure adrenaline that comes with exploring this wild and untamed wilderness.

As you step into the winter landscape, be prepared to witness the mesmerizing allure of the blue ice caves. These ethereal formations, sculpted by the forces of time and glacial movement, exude a stunning blue hue that seems to emanate from within. But our adventure doesn’t stop there.

Beyond the blue ice caves, your journey will take you to breathtaking glacial landscapes. Traverse vast expanses of snow-covered valleys, surrounded by towering peaks that seem to touch the sky. The silence of this pristine wilderness will envelop you, allowing you to connect with nature in its purest form.

Winter Trip Iceland
Day 1: South Coast towards the Vatnajökull National Park

We begin our journey at BSÍ, Reykjavík’s Central Bus Station. Buckle up and get ready for a wild ride as we leave Reykjavík and head straight towards the magnificent Seljalandsfoss waterfall, sourced from the infamous Eyjafjallajökull glacier-capped volcano. But that’s just the beginning, as we head to the powerful Skógafoss waterfall, standing tall at 200 ft and providing a sight that will leave you breathless. Black sand beaches & cliffs will accompany us along the way until we get to Kirkjubæjarklaustur.

Ice Caves at Vatnajökull National Park

Early in the morning we will set course towards the glacier lagoons. Get ready for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure as we explore the stunning ice caves of the Vatnajökull glacier. We will make our way towards the glacier-edge, where we’ll strap on our crampons and helmets, and begin our hike into the glacier’s icy depths. The landscape here is like nothing else on earth, with towering ice walls and sparkling blue formations that seem to glow in the dim light.

Later on the day, we will head back towards the South Coast.

Day 3: Thórsmörk valley & back to Reykjavík

Experience the magic of Thórsmörk in the wintertime on a superjeep adventure through the Icelandic highlands. Our journey to Thórsmörk will be an epic ride on snow-covered roads, only accessible by a specialized vehicle like the superjeep.

After the tour, we will head back to Reykjavík in time for a late dinner in the capital.
