SHARE MILES
& harsh elements
Join a group of maximum 10 adventure seekers who are willing to step into something harsher. This is winter in its rawest form. Out in the Highlands there are no trails during this season.
Just deep snow, wind, and whatever the nature decides to throw at us. Some days we will move under clear skies, while other we might get a full whiteout. Storms roll in fast. Temperatures drop hard.
Orange alert outside? No problem. We dig a snow cave, or do some avalanche rescue practice during zero visibility. We keep moving no matter what.
And then, just when it feels like the highlands might break you, you drop your pack, change clothing and sink into a natural geothermal pool.
Not for everyone. Only for those who dare.
Experience one of the busiest places in the Icelandic Highlands, without anybody else.
OUR WINTER
MOUNTAIN HUT
We spend three nights at the Landmannalaugar hut, when winter strips the highlands down to what matters. Accommodation is shared, sleeping bag style, everyone packed together inside one of Iceland’s largest mountain huts.
In winter the place feels different. Quieter. Heavier. More intimate. The ground floor fills quickly with wet gear, steam, and tired bodies. There is a large bunk room and a spacious kitchen, fully equipped with gas
stoves, tableware and everything needed to keep a group moving once the snow takes over. If the weather plays along, we’ll fire up the grill right in the snow for one of our group dinners.
Built in 1951, the hut has long been a base for those crossing this raw, volcanic landscape. In winter, it is not about comfort. It is about shelter. A solid roof in a place where the weather always has the final word.
