Who doesn’t know Chris Burkard nowadays? At least, everyone in Iceland we know him! This last summer he came to Iceland for biking 975km across the country (from East to West), crossing the most challenging terrain: from steep fjords to dusty deserts and immense glaciers in the country’s Highlands. A great outdoor photographer based in California, this photographer is known for his powerful wild landscapes and for inspire millions of people everyday.

If there was once a love at first sight about Icelandic adventure photography, it were us felling in love with these shots of the island were we live. Þráinn (Thráinn) Kolbeinsson is one of those photographers you shouldn’t miss when looking for breathtaking pictures from Iceland or the Faroe Islands. After following him for a while, we are totally sure to tell that he has a completely different and amazing way to shot the Icelandic landscapes as never has done before.

One of our best discoveries of this 2020 has been this Canadian-born self-taught travel/landscape photographer and digital artist. A true outdoors explorer & photographer with a great eye for capturing the best moments in the wilderness. Our favorite: her night shots full of colors from the Northern Lights & the Milky Way. A mix between photography & digital art that will blow your mind and will make you question if what you are looking at is real or not!

Though he’s based in Kansas, we’ve been following this amazing visual artist across his adventures around the world. When talking about majestic & beautiful photos, Karl Shakur N. should be with no doubt in your list of best photographers. Sharing the landscapes & unreal places that he finds while traveling, this photographer specialized in adventure photography has become one of our favorites this last year. A crazy edition with blue & golden tones creating an amazing adventure kaleidoscope that you shouldn’t miss!

7. Jimmy Chin
When talking about adventure photography, Jimmy Chin is always a reference. Climber, alpinist, filmmaker, photographer & Oscar winner for his co-direction with Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi of the documentary “Free Solo”. Amazing shots full of power, action and always showing the most human face behind every expedition. He describes his initiation in photography as a “fortunate accident”, and what a blessing! This accident leaded him to get immersed in amazing adventures such as the first American ski descent of Mt. Everest, many first ascents, expeditions to Antarctica, Pakistan & more.

We discovered her in the Reel Rock 13 film with the climbing expedition to Antarctica. Since then, we have been following her photography really close. Climber, photographer, cinematographer and owning her own media company. She’s also a The North Face athlete and has participated in amazing expeditions that would take you from Central Africa to the Antarctica big frozen walls, through the amazing Nepal & the vertical walls of the Tetons Range.

If previously we were talking about the drone master, we introduce you Þorsteinn, the glacier photo master. And one of the best Icelandic filmmakers & drone operators we have discovered this last year. We knew about him after his ascent to Hrútfjallstindar. We are amazed by his aerial photography of ice & rivers, but we also felt in love with one of his last videos about Iceland.
