Strútsstígur, is one of the most beautiful & wild short hiking trails in Iceland. Just in 4 days you will hike the Eldgjá volcanic fissure, you will roam immense green hills with almost no trails & you will discover the best natural wonders that can be found deep in the Icelandic Highlands. We will hike with a local & experienced AIMG guide from Amarok Adventures.

Huge lava fields covered by unreal moss that has been growing during the last centuries will surround us during the whole trip, we will reach the surroundings of the Torfajökull glacier & volcano, where the ice touches the most amazing & colorful landscapes & if the weather allows us to, we will take a bath in one of the wildest & most amazing hot pools in Iceland.

We will also spend one extra night in one of our favorite mountain huts hidden in the deep of the Highlands for exploring the surroundings the day after before heading back to the south coast. Discover the Strútsstígur trail in Iceland with a small group, what will make our experience in something more personal. Let us show you the most surreal landscapes hidden to the common tourists.

For reaching the Highlands, we will be transferred in a modified 4×4 vehicle by one of our guides. We will hike every day around 15km – 20km (9mi – 12mi) & we will stay every night in old mountain huts that have been restored or that belong to private associations, and that are quite difficult to reach by car. An amazing experience & adventure for experiencing the wildest areas of the Icelandic Highlands.
